Prior to Gujarat Titans’ first match versus Punjab Kings in the 2025 Indian Premier League, Shubman Gill gave off an air of steely certainty. On Tuesday, March 25, GT will play PBKS in Match 5 of the current campaign at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
During one of the pre-match press conferences before the game, he emphasised GT’s performance over the last three seasons since its founding in 2022, supporting the style of cricket they have been playing throughout the years.
“I believe we are the team with the most wins and the highest percentage of wins if you look at our record over the last three years. We will therefore have another fantastic season if we keep doing that.
“I don’t think you have to do anything different just because it’s a new season,” Shubman Gill said at a press conference before the game.
“I believe that we have played the most reliable cricket over the last three years, and the victories and games speak for themselves. The GT captain went on to say, “I don’t think we need to change anything; we’ll keep playing the cricket we’ve been playing for the past three years.”

In their debut season in the prestigious T20 tournament, GT won the IPL. They have 10 victories out of 14 at the end of the group stage. The title was assured after defeating the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. In terms of the league phase, GT’s experience was identical in the next season. They lost against Chennai Super Kings in a match that went right down to the wire, though, and narrowly missed earning their second consecutive title.
