'I was telling him I'm trying to save my bat'- Shubman Gill on Rishabh Pant's humorous bat tagging stunt

Star India batter Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant set the stage on fire on day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. Both batters completed their centuries and put on quite the show against the visitors, helping India post a total of 287 runs before they declared and gave Bangladesh a target of 515 runs to chase down.

Both Gill and Pant appeared to be having fun while at the wicket, and when discussing the innings, Gill mentioned how passionately Pant celebrated throughout the day. The top batter also disclosed that on multiple instances, he had to tell Pant to slow down because he was striking the bat too hard.

It’s important to remember that Shubman Gill scored 119 runs in the second innings to make up for his first-inning duck dismissal

“I was warning him not to do that because I was using the same bat that I used during the England series.” My bat is actually fairly old. I told him I was trying to save my bat since he was hitting it so hard. And when we were in the middle, he would remark, “No, let’s do it again,” if he didn’t get it right. I had to urge him to stop crying,” News18 cited Gill as saying.
