Punjab’s team has included star Indian batsman Shubman Gill in preparation for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–2026. Due to his exclusion from the squad for the T20Is against New Zealand and the ensuing T20 World Cup 2026, India’s Test and ODI captain will be spotted playing for his home state in his spare time.
The squad also includes Arshdeep Singh and Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill colleagues for India.
The forthcoming One-Day Internationals against the BlackCaps at home are anticipated to feature both Gill and Arshdeep, with the former serving as captain. The New Zealand series, which starts three days later in Vadodara, will have very little time to prepare after Punjab’s January 8 league stage finish in Elite Group C. The extent of the pair’s availability is therefore still unknown.
Abhishek Sharma is probably going to play the entire season.
Since Abhishek will only join the Indian team prior to the T20I series, which begins in Nagpur on January 21, he may be able to fully commit to Vijay Hazare’s responsibilities. The left-handed hitter might be able to contribute a full season for the state team if Punjab advances to the domestic competition finals, which are scheduled for January 18.
A potent batting lineup of Uday Saharan, Prabhsimran Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, and Naman Dhir is another feature of the 15-man roster. As the team attempts to win its first championship in the top 50-over league, the Punjab Cricket Association has also added Harpreet Brar, Gurnoor Brar, and Raghu Sharma.
