Shubman Gill Making Rohit Sharma Comfortable, Says Nayar

Shubman Gill Making Rohit Sharma Comfortable, Says Nayar

Ex-India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar lauded ODI skipper Shubman Gill for spending time with Rohit Sharma during the series opening rain delay against Australia, but jokingly told him not to give him popcorn. The two shared a popcorn bucket at Perth’s Optus Stadium dressing room on Sunday, October 19, while waiting for the rain to stop.

Rohit’s off-season physical overhaul was rigorously supervised by Nayar, who joked that the new skipper should avoid popcorn. As rain frequently delayed play, the two chatted in the dressing room after their early dismissals in the first powerplay.

I admire Shubman Gill’s efforts to make Rohit Sharma comfortable.

Since the dressing room can be unpleasant, even if you played a lot together and he backed you, you still want him to feel like you care when you become his captain “Abhishek Nayar told Star Sports.

Shushman Gill can sit anywhere in the dressing room, but I think he sat behind Rohit Sharma purposefully. He’s attempting to help Rohit Sharma succeed. He’s doing right by not offering popcorn “added.

Rohit and Shubman Gill struggled with the new ball in cloudy circumstances after being assigned to bat first. India got into difficulties early as Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood probed the opening pair. In his ODI captain debut, Gill scored 10 runs and Rohit was removed for eight.

Men in Blue’s rhythm was broken by multiple rain interruptions, reducing the game to 26 overs per side. Indians scored 136/9 in their allocated overs, with KL Rahul hitting 38 from 31 balls. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Owen, and Matthew Kuhnemann took two wickets. Australia’s DLS objective is 131 runs.
