Shubman Gill, KL Rahul caught dancing at slips

On the third day, while fielding in the slip cordon, skipper Shubman Gill and batter KL Rahul spontaneously danced. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is now hosting the first Test match between India and the West Indies. The match has been lopsided in favour of India. Although the home team is slowly but surely winning, a scene on the pitch caught everyone’s attention.

Gill was observed giving Rahul a dance move during the opening session of Day 3 as Jasprit Bumrah got ready to bowl his next ball. The latter immediately imitated the move. Their brief dancing video went viral on social media very fast.

At home, KL Rahul blasts his second century.

In his maiden home Test as captain of India, Gill appeared calculating in his choices. Rahul, meanwhile, scored his first Test century at home since 2016 after smashing one in the opening innings. In addition, it was his tenth opening century and eleventh Test tonne, moving him up the all-time list of Indian openers with the most Test hundreds, past both Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma.

India’s first innings was declared at 448/5 earlier on Day 3, thanks to hundreds from Rahul (100), Dhruv Jurel (125), and Ravindra Jadeja (104*).

Shubman Gill contributed a 50 as well. With his fifty, Shubman Gill joined the likes of Lala Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar as the only other Indian captain to hit fifty or more on his home Test captaincy debut.

However, the West Indies have found it difficult to counter India’s bowling attack. They were compelled to continue after being bundled out for just 162 in the opening inning. While Jasprit Bumrah (3/42) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/25) kept the visitors under strain, Mohammed Siraj claimed four wickets with his blistering deliveries.

Jadeja swept through the middle order in the second innings, taking three quick wickets. Siraj unleashed another blast, quickly dispatching Jomel Warrican and Justin Greaves. The tourists are headed for an innings loss with just one wicket remaining and a deficit of over 150 runs to cover.
