In the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, England cricketer Jos Buttler has been outstanding with the Gujarat Titans (GT). Along with Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill, he has contributed to the top order’s stability and has scored runs in each of the first three games.
Buttler lavished his skipper Shubman Gill with accolades, calling him a “star” and India’s “Poster Boy” of the future. Although Gill hasn’t had the tournament start he had hoped for, Buttler thinks he is a “brilliant captain” who can effectively lead the team. Notably, Gill is captaining the team for the second consecutive season following Hardik Pandya’s transfer to the Mumbai Indians the previous season.
“You know what, Shubman is a star. He will become the face of Indian cricket. He is an amazing player, in my opinion. It’s been a lot of fun. I believe that playing against these guys is one of the best aspects about the IPL. But now that I have him on my side, I can see him up close. I truly enjoy observing him practise and picking up tips on his methods. He has done a fantastic job leading the squad,” Buttler told Cricbuzz.
“He gets along well with everyone on the team. He also gets along well with the coach. And yes, he has a cool, clear head and the enthusiasm on the pitch that I adore. Thus, he is leading admirably,” Buttler continued.
Buttler was also full of admiration for Sudharsan, Shubman Gill opening partner.
When asked which cricket player has captured his interest, Buttler said Sudharsan has a “bright future” ahead of him and a lot of talent.
Sai Sudharsan has definitely captured my interest: Jos Buttler
“Sai Sudharsan has definitely captured my interest. He was an amazing talent and a good player. However, like I mentioned, I believe he has a very bright future ahead of him when you get to see guys up close and watch him practise. He is obviously highly committed and possesses all the talent, game, and everything. A young man who enjoys cricket and is the best person to accompany it. So far, I’ve had a great time watching him play and working with him on a few pairings. Therefore, he has a very bright future, in my opinion,” he remarked.
Speaking of the Titans, their most recent match saw them overcome Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Buttler’s undefeated 73 and Sudarshan’s 49 were crucial to the Titans’ eight-wicket victory. Mohammed Siraj won Player of the Match after taking three wickets in four overs against his old franchiser, demonstrating his extraordinary skill with the ball.
