He had treatment at Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata and fared well. On November 21, the BCCI will make a decision regarding his participation in the second Test.

Shubman Gill has been responding favourably to the medical care he has received, and on November 19, 2025, he will go to Guwahati with the team. The Fazilka-born player is still recovering from his injury, according to Shubman Gill, who is being monitored by the medical staff. The team management is not making any rash decisions on Gill’s availability for the match, which starts on November 22. India’s only hope to avoid another Test thumping at home is to win in Guwahati, as they are currently behind 0-1 in the two-match series.
If Gill is unable to play in the forthcoming match, another question that has emerged is who would take his spot at No. 4. Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal are already members of the Indian team. However, players who are playing well in the Ranji Trophy 2025–2026, such Karun Nair, might also be called up, and Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rajat Patidar have a decent chance as well.
