Shubman Gill, the captain of the Indian Test team, expressed his appreciation for the chance to play with so many great cricketers. After Rohit Sharma retired, Gill was chosen the new Test captain in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) 18-man team for the forthcoming five-match Test series in England on May 24.
The 25-year-old discussed how Rohit and Virat Kohli have different leadership philosophies. Although Shubman Gill acknowledged that they had similar goals, he pointed out that they approached captaincy very differently.
“I was always influenced by the Indian cricket greats and legends as a child, and I was extremely lucky to be able to play with so many of them, whether it was Virat or Rohit. Although their styles were extremely different, it was encouraging to see them both pursuing the same objective. In a video released by the BCCI, Shubman Gill stated, “You want to be able to win as a captain, and your styles can be different, but they both were very different, but also similar in their own sense.”
According to the cricketer, who was born in Punjab, Kohli was a fierce leader who always led with great fervour. He acknowledged that although Rohit was aggressive as well, he showed it in a calm way.
According to Shubman Gill, the Indian ODI captain led with tactical brilliance and had good player communication skills.
While Rohit bhai was also aggressive, you might not see it in their reactions or facial expressions, but he was also constantly attacking on the pitch. Virat bhai was always very aggressive and always wanted to lead from the front with hunger and fire. Rohit bhai was a very composed, tactically aware, and communicative player who was always aware of what he wanted from the guys. Thus, these are the traits I picked up from them,” he continued.
