Shubman Gill Awaits T20I Green Light

As of Monday, December 1, Shubman Gill is en route to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). This has to do with his recuperation from an injury to his neck. Gill might play in the T20I series in December, which starts on December 9 in Cuttack, but he will miss the ODI series against South Africa.

Notably, on Day 2 of the first Test in Kolkata, Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury. Rishabh Pant led the squad in the second match, and he was later sidelined for the rest of the Test series because of the injury.

Shubman Gill has been replaced in the setup for the ODIs by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Shubman Gill has a greater than 50% probability of being approved by the CoE, according to Cricbuzz. Gill had flown to Mumbai to see experts about his injury after travelling with the team to Guwahati for the second Test. After that, he travelled to Chandigarh for his own rehabilitation.

Shubman Gill is the vice-captain of the T20I team in addition to being the captain of the Test and ODI teams. It is anticipated that the team for the five-match T20I series would be revealed shortly. Gill may actually play in every 20-over match.

“Throughout the rehabilitation process, the captain has worked really hard. The CoE is now in charge of it. Cricbuzz cited a source with knowledge of the development as stating, “If all goes as planned, he should be in Cuttack by December 6-7, when the T20I squad is expected to assemble.”

India is currently playing the Proteas in an ODI series. On November 30, the Men in Blue took a 1-0 lead at the JSCA International Stadium Complex with a 17-run triumph. The hosts’ top players were Kuldeep Yadav (4/68 in 10 overs) and Virat Kohli (135 off 120).

On Wednesday, December 3, and Saturday, December 6, respectively, Raipur and Visakhapatnam will host the second and third ODIs.
