Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan are scheduled to return to India following the US leg of the T20 World Cup in 2024.
As the 2024 T20 World Cup approaches its halfway point, Team India appears to have settled on a starting lineup. Since Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were selected to open alongside each other, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was chosen over Shubman Gill, has not appeared in a single match. Avesh Khan, the travelling reserve, is no longer in the running since the pacers have found their groove and are taking wickets at a rapid pace.

Both Avesh and Gill are expected to return to India following the matches’ USA leg. Both players were spotted on a chartered jet on Wednesday, travelling from New York to Fort Lauderdale with the team. In case any other players had an accident, Gill and Avesh were included in the Indian team. Both will be returned to India after the USA leg is over. It is noteworthy that the team still has two reserves, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed.

Although this was always going to happen, Gill is forced to come back, and Jaiswal now India’s backup opener. Regarding Avesh, the team possesses two right-pacers in Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj; also, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube are included in that group. Because of this, the squad has a left-arm pacer named Khaleel in case Arshdeep Singh gets hurt.

ICC silverware is India’s hope after years of disappointments.

India defeated the USA on June 12 to advance to the Super 8 phases of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. June 20 is when they will play in their first Super 8 match.

Notably, June 22 in Antigua and June 24 in St. Lucia are the dates of the other two games. Should India advance to the semifinals, the match is slated to take place in Bridgetown on June 29. The semifinals will take place in Georgetown, Guyana, on June 27.
