Shubman, Abhishek’s War of Words With Haris Rauf

In the second Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2025, Abhishek Sharma of India and Haris Rauf of Pakistan were seen having a heated argument during the fifth over of the Indian innings. After the India opener smacked a boundary on the second delivery of the over, the Pakistani pacer threw him a ferocious look. Rauf got pumped up during the current match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, but Abhishek did not start anything.

Things definitely took a bad turn when Shubman Gill, chasing a target of 172 runs, whacked Rauf for a boundary on the final delivery of the same over. The cricket pitch became a verbal battle between the Pakistani pacer and the India openers. The umpires, however, intervened quickly, preventing the problem from getting worse. Notably, India appeared to be leading their chase when Rauf’s over went for 12 runs.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led team got off to a wonderful start earlier in the innings when the southpaw smacked Pakistan’s front-line bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi for a massive six on the opening ball of the run chase. After this ball, there was also a brief verbal argument, although it didn’t seem to be as heated as the one with the right-arm speedster.

However, Abhishek Sharma was energised by the heated moments and carried on having a good time, making the chase seem easy.

Gill also displayed a lot of tactical stroke play, establishing limits even with well-executed deliveries. Less than 70 runs are needed for the Men in Blue to win from the remaining 11 overs, and the opening partnership is still in place as of this writing.

Regarding the opening innings, India decided to bowl first after captain Suryakumar Yadav made the right call at the toss. Sahibzada Farhan’s half-century at bat was a brilliant display by the Men in Green, who scored 171 for the loss of five wickets. Shivam Dube was the best bowler for the Indians because of his few wickets.
