Shreyas Iyer says leadership adds significant maturity and a sense of responsibility

Shreyas Iyer talked candidly about leading the Sobo Mumbai Falcons to the Mumbai T20 League 2025 Playoffs after suffering a heartbreak in the IPL 2025 Final. In the current tournament, which includes some of the top players like Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, and others, the star player has played a crucial role in helping his team advance to the playoffs.

Iyer was questioned about his overall position as captain as the Sobo Mumbai Falcons advanced to the playoffs. The 30-year-old asserted that maturity and accountability are key components of captaincy. Since they represent the team, he believed that a captain is always expected to perform. Shreyas Iyer, who has been guiding sides since the age of 22, was up for the challenges.

“Captainship instills a great deal of maturity and accountability. Every time the team encounters a challenge or other setback, they always turn to the captain, thus you are constantly expected to perform and contribute as best you can. Having been captain since I was 22, I believe I have a great deal of experience. I have accepted and relished the moments. Shreyas Iyer told the T20 Mumbai League, “I love being able to step up and take the lead.

Later, the PBKS skipper was questioned about how to deal with pressure. According to him, he enters his zone and performs tasks that are in front of him. The outstanding batter felt compelled to accept obstacles and maintain focus.

“I simply attempt to enter my zone and complete the tasks that are in front of me. I make an effort to maintain my focus as much as possible in order to be in the moment, accept the circumstances, and welcome the audience because occasionally they get really exciting and transfer their energy to you. I keep telling myself that I want the audience to applaud my name because it gives me that kind of drive,”  Shreyas Iyer continued.
