Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, Shreyas Iyer acknowledged that he had barely slept for four hours following his role in the Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2.
At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the PBKS captain scored an undefeated 87 off 41 balls in a spectacular display against MI. As they chased down a 204-run goal in 19 overs with five wickets remaining, his effort helped PBKS win by five wickets.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and PBKS will face off in the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Neither team has yet to win the IPL championship. At the conclusion of the final, though, one of them will be able to break the curse.
“I had trouble falling asleep. I am here after barely four hours of sleep. I made my way to my room. At the pre-match press conference on Monday, June 2, Shreyas Iyer stated, “And the next thing I know, I am here doing the PC” (via Times of India).
The best knock Shreyas has ever played in the IPL, according to him, was against MI. The Mumbai batsman declared on Monday, “I have played the most knocks in the IPL.”
What is Shreyas Iyer’s IPL 2025 performance?
In 16 games, the 30-year-old has scored 603 runs with a strike rate of 175.81 and an average of 54.82. In the 18th tournament, Shreyas has already achieved six half-centuries. This season, he has been a six-hitting machine, hitting 39 maximums, just one less than the top-ranked Nicholas Pooran.
This season, there have been three meetings between RCB and PBKS. In two matches, including the convincing eight-wicket victory over Shreyas and Co. in Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur, Rajat Patidar’s team has had the upper hand.
