Abhishek Nayar and several other coaching staff members were recently thanked by Shreyas Iyer for supporting him throughout difficult times. The Indian batter expressed his desire to maintain relationships with individuals who supported him during his worst moments.
He named Abhishek Nayar and Pravin Amre as his pillars of strength in a recent conversation.
“You see, very few people message me when I’m having a bad day. They are Abhishek Nayar and Praveen Amre, sir. Sagar, as I mentioned. Sagar, who I trained with. At that time, I had excellent help from a couple additional folks. Since they have known me since I was a child, I will always have these folks at my side. They remain normal when things are going well. On the other hand, they treat me quite well when things go wrong. I therefore value this kind of mindset. In an interview with journalist Vimal Kumar, Iyer said, “And if such people are around you, then you will definitely grow,” as reported by News18.
Interestingly, Iyer collaborated with Amre while he was a member of the Delhi Capitals. During his time with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 and 2024, respectively, he worked alongside Nayar. In the Indian establishment, Nayar, a former cricket player for Mumbai, has also collaborated closely with Iyer. This comes after he became an assistant coach on Gautam Gambhir’s coaching staff in July 2024.
