India A’s captain for the three-match One-Day series is Shreyas Iyer. Rajat Patidar was previously named the One-Day captain, but after demonstrating outstanding leadership in the Duleep Trophy final between Central Zone and South Zone, when he won the trophy, he has been moved to captain the ROI team.
The Rest of India (ROI) team for the Irani Cup and the India A team for the three-match One-Day series against Australia A were both named by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Irani Cup matches against the Ranji Trophy 2024–25 winners will begin in Nagpur on October 1st, while India A matches will begin at Kanpur on September 30.
Iyer’s deputy in One-Day matches will be Tilak Verma, and ROI’s deputy in the Irani Cup will be Ruturaj Gaikwad. Iyer will now captain the team in white-ball cricket after requesting a vacation from red-ball cricket and missing the second unofficial Test match against Australia A.
Shreyas Iyer decision to take a six-month hiatus from red-ball cricket was also verified by the BCCI.
In the UK, Shreyas Iyer recently had back surgery, and he recovered nicely. He did, however, suffer from stiffness and frequent back spasms when playing the lengthier format. During this time, he will concentrate on his fitness, increase his endurance, and strengthen his body’s resilience. Shreyas Iyer was therefore passed over for selection in the Irani Cup.
