Shreyas Iyer has guided the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and now Punjab Kings (PBKS) into the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) first qualifier after PBKS defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in Jaipur to take the top spot in the league stage standings. This is an achievement no other IPL skipper has ever achieved.
After losing the toss, the Mumbai Indians chose to bat first and amassed 184/7 thanks to a fantastic half-century from Suryakumar Yadav. The PBKS bowlers, however, did a better job of keeping them to that total because the pitch was excellent for batting, as demonstrated by the ease with which their batters chased down the mark in the second innings.
Swashbuckling opener Priyansh Arya and new number three Josh Inglis hit 109 runs together during their 59-delivery combination.
With nine deliveries left, PBKS was able to chase down the mark thanks to a 26* off 16 from Shreyas Iyer , making it a pivotal phase.
The Punjab team finished with 19 points and at the top of the points table thanks to this victory. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) would need to defeat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a significant margin tomorrow in order to unseat PBKS as the top team with one league game remaining.
