Following a fielding error during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, India batsman Shreyas Iyer suffered a laceration to his spleen. He was released from the hospital in Sydney on Saturday, November 1.
After undergoing a small procedure to stop internal bleeding from a blunt abdomen injury, Shreyas Iyer has recovered well from his treatment.
Shreyas Iyer is stable and “recovering well,” according to the board, and the BCCI Medical Team and experts in Sydney and India are pleased with his development. However, he will continue to stay in Sydney for follow-up appointments until going back home if he is given the all-clear to travel.
By Tuesday, October 28th, Shreyas Iyer was answering calls, consuming home-cooked meals prepared by friends in the area, and even handling his daily tasks independently. Ahead of the Twenty20 International series, Suryakumar Yadav also provided an update on his health.
The BCCI said in its statement that it was deeply grateful to Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in India and Dr. Koroush Haghighi and his staff in Sydney for making sure Iyer got the finest care possible for his injury.
