Shreyas Iyer at No. 3?

Irfan Pathan, a former Indian cricket player, has urged the team’s management to start Shreyas Iyer at number three for the forthcoming Twenty20 Internationals against New Zealand. For the first three Twenty20 Internationals of the five-match series, Shreyas Iyer has been added to the team.

Irfan emphasised how Shreyas Iyer is capable of playing fast bowling and spin bowling with same force. Additionally, he asked the BCCI to think about keeping Shreyas Iyer in the T20I team if the injured Tilak Varma recovers.

Without a doubt, Shreyas is at number three. He is a very skilled spin player. He has excellent ball handling skills and can make big shots. He was playing the fast bowlers quite well, according to everybody who watched him during the last IPL. He will come in and perform if you offer him a spot and observe his form. He has exceptional skill, thus failure would be extremely unlikely. He will perform if he enters. Irfan posted a video on Robin Uthappa’s YouTube channel, saying, “You should make room for him in the squad somewhere, even after Tilak’s inclusion because he is the kind of player you will need.”

Uthappa offered commentary on Suryakumar Yadav’s decline in T20I form in the same video. The former wicketkeeper said that the No. 4 position was ideal for the Indian captain and that he should continue to play to his abilities, which include controlling the game after the powerplay.

“I believe that his lack of runs has affected his confidence, which is typical. However, I believe that because he has played a variety of positions, he is lacking in runs. Surya ought to bat at number four, in my opinion. He is more successful, in my opinion, outside of the powerplay. He puts pressure on fast bowlers by using his skill to use spinners and score runs quickly. His most reliable place, in my opinion, is number four,” Uthappa said.

Recently, Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi were added to India’s T20I team for the series against the New Zealanders.

Unlike Iyer, Bishnoi’s name was used throughout the whole series. The T20 World Cup is scheduled for February and March of this year, and neither of them was included in the roster. On January 21, the T20I series versus New Zealand is set to start in Nagpur.
