Star Indian women’s cricket player Shreyanka Patil recently opened up about her feelings after being chosen for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s WPL (Women’s Premier League) inaugural season. She also shared her experience participating in the WPL auction.
Patil disclosed that she had crossed her fingers in anticipation when her name and number were called during the auction, and she was relieved when RCB ultimately placed a bid for her.
“RCB elevation. And I said, “All right, stop it, just stop it.” Sold to RCB, they added. Everyone is going to jump. There are those who will leap. There will be some weepers. And I felt completely blank. And then, five minutes in, I broke down in tears. In a recent podcast with RCB, Patil stated, “I was like, I don’t know whether it’s true, whether it’s really happening, whether to believe that it’s happened.”

The 21-year-old also talked about how the RCB treated her like family and how she felt like she belonged to the team right away. She also told a fascinating tale about how she got started as an off-spinner. She disclosed that her off-spin was aided by her father and a number of tutors.
“The last resort was off-spin, and I felt this is something very special,” the speaker said. “I just felt so happy to belong to this place and RCB just welcomed me like their own family member, and that was a special feeling.” When I first started bowling, I enjoyed off-spin. It was enjoyable. My dad, an off-spinner, and my instructors then began working on my action and everything. I didn’t have to push myself as I did with medium pace, wicket-keeping, or leg spin; it came quite effortlessly to me. Just stay with it, my father advised. Just keep doing what comes naturally to you. It’s advantageous. That’s how it began, according to Patil.
