Due to Matthew Short‘s recovery from minor surgery for a lacerated finger sustained in the second ODI in Adelaide, Australia made one alteration from the team called up for game one. He took Josh Philippe’s place at number seven.
Ninety minutes prior to the toss, Short had a long hit in the nets, but he appeared unfazed after speaking with Australia’s team doctor.
India selected the same team that they did for the first Twenty20 International in Canberra.
The weather has been cloudy all day in Melbourne, with a little light rain falling on Friday. For the most part of the day, the pitch has been covered. However, it is unlikely that any rain will fall in the evening.
Ninety thousand people are anticipated, the majority of them will be supporting the guests, giving India tremendous support once more.
Ben Austin, a Melbourne kid who died Thursday following a cricket accident earlier this week, was remembered before the game. Austin’s picture was shown on the screen before the contest began, and his favorite music was played after a little period of silence. Both teams are honoring and remembering Ben’s family, friends, and teammates by donning black armbands.
The surface had been under cover for the majority of the day after a couple of light rains, and Mitchell Marsh was beaming when he won another toss at the MCG and decided to bowl on a cloudy evening.
