'You will reap what you sow'- Shoaib Akhtar's frank opinion after Pakistan's record loss to England

Pakistan’s three-game Test series against England got started to a terrible start. Pakistan’s suffering continued when they lost the first Test of the current series against England in Multan, following a historic series defeat to Bangladesh in their home backyard.

Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s dismal performance, pointing out that Pakistan was unable to even mount a defence. Notably, after scoring a massive 556 runs in the first innings, Pakistan lost by an innings and 47 runs. Akhtar, meanwhile, was unreserved in his criticism of the team and its leadership.

“You’ll get what you put in. I have witnessed the decrease over the years. It’s a disappointing state of affairs. It’s okay to lose, but the match ought to be tight. But based on what we’ve seen over the last two days, they gave up all hope. This demonstrates our inadequacy. Bangladesh defeated you as well as England, who scored more than 800 points,” Cricket Pakistan cited Akhtar as saying.

Supporters are arguing that Pakistan ought to leave the WTC: Shoaib Akhtar

In addition, Akhtar discussed the PCB’s function in team management. Akhtar did not hold back in his criticism, saying that the team’s current roster is insufficiently talented to represent the team on the greatest platform.

Supporters are arguing that Pakistan ought to leave the WTC. The question of “should we send teams to Pakistan and keep their Test status alive” must be on the ICC’s mind. It’s merely depressing. Pakistani cricket, fans, and up-and-coming talent will all suffer from this. “I would like to ask the PCB to resolve this issue,” Akhtar emphasised.

“Groupism will arise if your captain and administration are incompetent. Selfishness on the part of the captain will lead to groupism. The situation remains the same if the captain scares the coaches. When it comes to choosing, the captain has the last say.

This has always been the way since I started playing,” he remarked. In the meantime, on October 15, Pakistan and England will play the second Test of the three-match series in Multan.
