Following his two-wicket showing in the fourth Twenty20 International of the five-match series against Australia, Shivam Dube has credited the contributions of captain Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and bowling coach Morne Morkel. India took an insurmountable 2-1 lead in the series after winning by 48 runs at the Carrara Oval.
Tim David (14 off 9) and Mitchell Marsh (30 off 24) were both removed by Shivam Dube.
He was moved up the order to bat at No. 3, where he had played an 18-ball, 22-run knock in the first innings. One four and one six made up his knock. Dube recognized that the Men in Blue’s score was sufficient at the venue because of the strength and quality of the bowling attack before giving the trio credit for his performance.
“Considering the caliber of our bowling, including the spinners and quick bowlers, 167 on this wicket is unquestionably a good score. The entire squad has faith in our bowlers, and I do too. Given the caliber of our bowling, 167 on this field was unquestionably a good score. I knew I had to bowl while I had the chance, and Morne, Gauti bhai, and Surya had a solid plan for me. Morne was also very helpful. According to Sportstar, Dube said at the news conference following the game, “He gave me some small, little tips which made my bowling better.”
The bowling unit’s strategy was straightforward, the all-rounder observed. He acknowledged that their primary goal was to bowl in a way that the opposing hitters would be forced to hit toward the longer square boundaries rather than straight.
“Yes, it’s a Twenty20 match, and any batter can come and smack, but we had a great plan and were certain we could stop them on this field with the large side boundaries. Since it is hard to strike big, the strategy was to bowl on the sides with larger boundaries. The borders were, I believe, at least 80 meters. We were aware that hitting it would be difficult. When a batter is set, the strategy was to bowl strategically and have him hit on the larger edges rather than the smaller ones,” Shivam Dube continued.
India achieved a significant victory by bowling the hosts out for 119 in 18.2 overs. In the last game of the white-ball series, they will now play the team captained by Mitchell Marsh. Saturday, November 8, is the date of the series’ fifth and final matchup at the Gabba in Brisbane.
