At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Shivam Dube recently talked about his experience of being given the new ball during India vs. Pakistan in the Asia Cup final.
After playing a game-winning performance in Sunday’s crucial summit match, Shivam Dube was named the Impact Player of the match inside the locker room.
The all-rounder revelled in the cheers and expressed gratitude to head coach Gautam Gambhir for having faith in his ability to bowl. The Mumbai native acknowledged that he found the idea of bowling with the new ball to be extremely intimidating. In closing, he said he had a great time playing on the pitch.
“Thank you. It means a lot to me. Thanks, Gauti bhai and the captain for the opportunity. First over daalna, mai pressure mein tha, mai jhooth nahi bolunga. Bohot darr bhi lag raha tha (Bowling the first over, I was under pressure, I won’t lie, I was also quite scared). But many people supported me, and I felt good. But then during the match, all of the pressure went away because the mind was focused on bowling. I had a lot of fun, thank you,” expressed Dube in his speech while speaking to BCCI.tv.

Shivam Dube, who is by no means a typical new-ball bowler, performed admirably by giving up just 12 runs in his opening two overs. with the end, he let up 11 runs with his third of the evening and went wicketless. Later in the innings, the spinners could be introduced because of his availability with the ball throughout the first half of the game.
Shivam Dube also made a batsman’s contribution. His knock of 33 runs off 22 balls turned out to be invaluable in the grand scheme of things. India won the Asia Cup for the ninth time with five wickets and two balls remaining. Additionally, it was their third Asia Cup 2025 victory over the Men in Green, but their first in a final.
