Shikhar Dhawan announce his retirement from both domestic and international cricket

Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan, 38, recently announced on social media that he was retiring from both local and international cricket. In his prime, the former batsman was a real force to be reckoned with, having played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is for the Indian squad.

Shikhar Dhawan had not appeared in an Indian team game since the 2022 tour to Bangladesh. Dhawan made the announcement of his decision to stop his career in a video that he put on social media.

“Playing for India was my one and only goal, which I accomplished with the help of many people. First and foremost, my family; with the help of Madan Sharma and my childhood coach Tarak Sinha, I learnt how to play cricket. In the video, Dhawan stated, “After that, my whole team, with whom I played for years, gave me another family, fame, and everyone’s love and support.

It’s been suggested that turning the pages is necessary to advance the plot. That’s why I’m doing it too. I’m declaring my retirement from both domestic and international cricket,” he continued.

By the time he played his final game in 2022, fresh players like Shubman Gill and others had progressively replaced Dhawan. In addition, the experienced hitter played for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League following his exclusion from the Indian team, albeit his seasons were hampered by injuries.

One of the greatest opening batsmen in history, Dhawan is a real stalwart of Indian cricket who will leave a lasting impact. The former batter amassed 10,867 runs from 269 appearances over the course of his career, including 24 centuries and 44 fifties.
