Australia is ready to go in 2024 and start getting ready for the Border Gavaskar Series. With up to four Sheffield Shield matches to hone skills for the Test series against India, the team may have received the best preparation possible ahead of the highly anticipated series.
The schedule for the domestic summer will be revealed on July 25 by Cricket Australia. The men’s one-day cups and the Sheffield Shield would each have seven matches in the schedule, with the new women’s T20 competition taking place prior to the WBBL.
The calendar is different in that, for the first time in a long time, the multi-format players will have a lengthy stretch of Shield games to be ready for the chance to reclaim the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
It is noteworthy that the final Australian overseas series of 2024 will end in England on September 29. When the Sheffield Shield begins on October 8, the players will have nearly a week to prepare. Players will begin their preparations for the first Test against India on November 22 after each state in the competition has played at least three matches.
Pardonably, captain Pat Cummins will only play in the ODI matches against their bitter rivals, while Mitchell Starc will miss the full series against England in September. Moreover, the availability of multi-format players for the Sheffield Shield could be a further topic of conversation.
While Australia’s Test lineup appears set, the side will want to carry a reserve batter into the Border Gavaskar series. A number of players’ availability for the Shield may be affected by Pakistan’s limited-overs visit, with the ODI series beginning on November 4.

The much awaited series between Australia and India begins on November 22. If the Australians are to win the series, they must perform at the highest level possible. The board will know exactly what has to be prepared for now that the domestic timetable has been made public.
