Former Australian quick Shaun Tait has been named the new fast bowling coach for the men’s national squad by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The 42-year-old takes Andre Adams’ position from New Zealand, who left the team after Bangladesh’s poor performances in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. According to the deal he signed, Tait will stay in the position until November 2027.
The former bowler has a wealth of international coaching and playing experience. He played in 59 international matches for Australia, taking 95 wickets in all forms. He played for Australia in the 2007 ODI World Cup, which they won.
After retiring, Shaun Tait began coaching and has held bowling coach positions with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the West Indies (Test team). In addition, he has experience working in a number of franchise leagues, such as English county cricket, the BPL, BBL, PSL, and LPL. Working with a youthful and reliable bunch of fast bowlers from Bangladesh was disclosed by Shaun Tait.
Shaun Tait also discussed the chance to collaborate with head coach Phil Simmons.
“It’s a bit of a new age, if you will, to be connected with the Bangladesh cricket squad at this moment. The fresh talent with the fast bowlers has been discussed a lot lately, which is fantastic. My main aim with the fast bowling group is to increase the team’s wins since this is international cricket, not a development squad, and everyone expects the skill to produce results. As cited by Cricbuzz, Tait stated, “I’m looking forward to the journey ahead, and having the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally exciting.”
The Tigers will play the UAE in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on May 17 and 19 in Sharjah after recently playing a two-Test series against Zimbabwe. These games are anticipated to serve as a warm-up for later-in-the-year contests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
