After Abhishek Sharma crushed Pakistan in Sunday, September 21’s Super Fours match in Dubai, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has challenged the young player to turn his strong starts into massive hundreds. India won by six wickets with seven balls remaining because to the left-hander’s outstanding innings of 74 off 39 balls, which included six fours and five sixes.
Following his exploits, Sehwag was captured on camera telling Abhishek to try to turn every run he scored—whether it be 70 or 80—into a century. Sehwag said that Sunil Gavaskar had advised him to do this in order to prevent him from lamenting lost centuries.
When Abhishek Sharma is playing well, he should always aim to finish strong and stay undefeated, he advised.
“Many, many congratulations. Don’t forget to turn your seventy into a hundred when you accomplish that milestone. Because Sunil Gavaskar once told me that you will remember those innings where you got out on seventy or eighty when you retire. I could have had a lot more century in my career if I had just converted those. These are not recurring opportunities. On your day, when you’re hitting well, try to go undefeated; that’s always preferable. Remember that,” Sehwag stated on Sony Sports.
