After designating MS Dhoni as his favourite captain, Shardul Thakur predicts a peculiar response: "He will be typical Rohit Sharma with me on phone."

India’s greatest captain to date is MS Dhoni, who won the captaincy six years after taking the team to success in the T20 World Cup in 2007, the World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He won five titles for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, demonstrating his talent there as well. Another cricketer who nearly achieved the same level of success as his captaincy was Rohit Sharma, who won five IPL titles with the Mumbai Indians.

By winning the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian skipper added yet another feather to his cap and became just the third captain to win a World Cup trophy for India, behind Dhoni and Kapil Dev.

When Shardul Thakur, a Mumbai boy who has played a lot of cricket under Dhoni and Rohit, was asked to choose between two captains, he picked the 43-year-old while deflecting a playful remark from Rohit.

“I would say MSD because Rohit is my friend first.” Even if he is upset, Rohit would understand, so I would go ahead and kiss him and say, “No problem!” “He’ll be like normal Rohit Sharma with me on the phone when this video gets to him,” Shardul remarked at an IISM function.

Here’s the video of Shardul’s conversation:

Both are commendable in their own way. Can you really choose between the two cricket Stars?#shardulthakur #msdhoni #rohitsharma #indiancricket #captaincy #cricketlegends #debate #leadership #goatdebate #iism #orientationday pic.twitter.com/hK1yMfrEn4

It would be better to abandon this format now: Rohit

In the IPL, neither Dhoni nor Rohit are the captain of their respective teams. In addition, Rohit declared his retirement from T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. He will still captain India in Tests and ODIs. In addition to him, legends such as Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja also announced their retirement from Twenty20 international cricket, making Suryakumar Yadav the new captain of India.

“It was also my last game. Ever since I began playing this format, I have enjoyed it. It’s better to bid this format farewell now. This has been so much fun every minute. “Winning the cup is what I wanted,” Rohit remarked following his team’s victory in the T20 WC 2024.
