Due to a high temperature, Mumbai’s representative in the Irani Cup match against the Rest of India, star all-rounder Shardul Thakur, has been admitted to the hospital. In Lucknow at the time of the fight, Thakur was suffering from a fever. Nevertheless, his condition worsened after he spent some time on the pitch.
It is noteworthy that Thakur helped his team surpass the 500-run threshold in the first innings of the match by scoring 36 runs in 59 deliveries. In the last over of the day, Saransh Jain dismissed him.
The doctors will reportedly decide whether or not Shardul Thakur stays in the game tomorrow after he spends the night there, according to sources.
“He came out to bat late primarily because he had a high fever and had not felt well during the day. After taking his medication, he fell asleep in the changing room because he was feeling weak. He felt low, but he wanted to bat. His blood has been tested for dengue and malaria. We’re awaiting the outcome. He will stay the night at the hospital till then,” a source was cited as saying.
It’s interesting to note that after having foot surgery on June 12, 2024, Thakur made his competitive cricket comeback against the Rest of India in the Irani Cup. In order to prepare for the Irani Cup, he did participate in the KSCA Invitational competition.

Regarding the current Irani Cup match between Mumbai and the rest of India, Mumbai produced a great performance while batting first. Ajinkya Rahane was outstanding on the first day, scoring 97 runs off of 234 deliveries. Moreover, Sarfaraz Khan was the highlight of day two.

The top batsman was undefeated in the opening inning and managed to reach a double century. Sarfaraz Khan helped Mumbai amass 537 runs in the game’s first innings, capping his innings at 222* runs in 286 deliveries.
