Shannon Gabriel, a bowler for the West Indies, has left international cricket

After a 12-year career playing on the highest platform in the sport, West Indies bowler Shannon Gabriel announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, August 28. After representing the Caribbean region in 59 Tests, 25 ODIs, and two T20Is between 2012 and 2023, the 36-year-old made the decision.

Gabriel thanked God for giving him the chance to travel the world representing the West Indies. He also expressed gratitude to the administrators, coaches, support personnel, and players of Cricket West Indies for their assistance in his cricket career.

“I have committed myself to representing the West Indies at the international level of cricket for the last twelve years. I have had a great deal of delight playing this cherished game to its maximum level, but as they say, good things come to an end. “I am officially retiring from international cricket today,” Gabriel posted on Instagram.

In the first place, I want to thank God for all of the possibilities and benefits that my family and I have experienced while I have been playing for the West Indies. Furthermore, I would want to express my sincere gratitude to the administration, coaches, and personnel of Cricket West Indies. There aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am for all of your efforts and support throughout the years. Not to mention, I want to express my gratitude to all of my teammates and those who have helped and encouraged me along the journey. “You have truly made my ascent to the top unforgettable,” the right-arm seamer continued.

Future ideas are revealed by Shannon Gabriel

Gabriel declared that in addition to representing Trinidad and Tobago at the international level, he will also play cricket for clubs and teams. “Moving forward, my plan is to continue representing my country [Trinidad and Tobago], club, and franchise teams around the world with the same love and passion I have shown throughout my career,” said Gabriel.

Gabriel concluded with 166 Test wickets at an average of 32.22 and a strike rate of 56.50 during his international career. In June 2018, he achieved six five-fors and the fourth-best match stats for a West Indian, 13 for 121, when playing at home against Sri Lanka.

Gabriel had a reputation for bowling quickly and producing a lot of bounce, especially on quiet fields. At an average of 34.36, he claimed 33 wickets on the ODI circuit. Concurrently, the seamer claimed three scalps in the two games he participated in using the shortened version of the game.
