Shan Masood seeks to foster a sense of security in Pakistan's dressing room after Naseem Shah's concerns

After Pakistan was humiliated in a three-match Test series in Australia earlier this year, Shan Masood’s reign as captain didn’t get off to the best start. But the southpaw, who is desperate for atonement, is focused on working with new red-ball coach Jason Gillespie to elevate the culture in the locker room.

Before, Naseem Shah acknowledged that Pakistan had been going through a hard spell and emphasised how crucial it was for the players to always support one another. Similar to this, Masood stated that the squad will be able to perform well on the field if there is a positive environment in the locker room.

A two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host the first meeting on Wednesday, August 21.

As a leader, I firmly believe that everything begins in the dressing room, and Jason and the other players share this belief as well. This is our primary focus. Our time off the pitch is greater than our time on it, which is the cause.

Therefore, Shan Masood stated in the press conference prior to the first Test, “Whatever we set internally will be reflected externally.”

“We’re working to maintain a positive and welcoming workplace. Our objective is to give the players stability, foster a positive dressing room environment where the players enjoy the game and delight the supporters,” Masood continued.

For the first time since the T20 World Cup in June of 2024, Pakistan and Bangladesh will be playing again. Pakistan was eliminated in the first round following losses to India and the United States, while Bangladesh advanced to the Super Eight stage.

The World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–2025 cycle includes the upcoming two-match series between the two Asian countries. Bangladesh is languishing at No. 8, just above bottom-placed West Indies, while Pakistan is ranked No. 6 on the points standings.
