Shan Masood, captain of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, is excited to see his former compatriots when his team faces Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast on June 4 at Headingley, England.
Shan Masood said that the upcoming fixture is not something he wishes to get too emotional about. The Pakistani batter added that it will be great to see everyone again and speak with them before and after the match. He did concede, however, that when it comes to game time, he will simply be professional, and he is optimistic that the team will achieve another victory.
“I don’t want to get too emotional about this fixture. Masood was quoted by the Yorkshire Post as saying, “It’ll be nice to see everyone again and have a chat before and after the game, but when it’s game time, I’ll just be professional, and hopefully, the boys can pull off another good result.”
Shan Masood, who had a phenomenal season with Derbyshire last year, scoring over 1,800 runs at an average of over 60, thought his previous team was excellent. The 33-year-old also expressed gratitude to Derbyshire and Mickey Arthur, the chief of cricket. He continued by stating that departing Derbyshire was one of the hardest decisions he had to make.
“I attribute a lot to Mickey Arthur, the head of cricket at Derbyshire, and the dressing room environment there was incredible. In truth, leaving them was one of the most difficult decisions I had to make,” he added.

Shan Masood went on to state that it was fantastic for his team to defeat two formidable T20 teams, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, after suffering three consecutive losses to Birmingham, Worcestershire, and Durham. Additionally, he stated that their performance thus far demonstrates their quality and that they intend to continue this against Derbyshire. He added that whoever makes the best decisions and commits the fewest errors will prevail, expressing his hope that it will be them.
“It just goes to demonstrate that you are never completely helpless. There is always a method to rectify a situation. Before the Notts game, I stated that it would be ideal for our team to begin the season with victories against Notts and Lancs.
“We’ve accomplished this feat, which demonstrates the caliber of our team; it demonstrates that we have something within our ranks. Now we wish to continue against Derbyshire, and it will be “on the day.” Whoever plays the best cricket, makes the best judgments, and commits the fewest errors will emerge victorious. He added, “Hopefully, that will be us.”
