Following his signing at the mega-auction for INR 10 crore, Mohammed Shami played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Nevertheless, he had a poor season, taking just six wickets at an economy rate of 11.23 and an average of 56.17 from nine games.
But the rhythm for which he is renowned abandoned him, and he had only recently returned to competitive cricket after overcoming an injury. Since then, Shami has put a lot of effort into getting fitter and has shown off his abilities for Bengal on the domestic circuit, taking 15 wickets in three Ranji Trophy games this season.
Reports surfaced on Thursday, November 13, indicating that the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have entered the race with the intention of acquiring Shami from SRH. The team coached by Rishabh Pant, nevertheless, appears to be in the lead to recruit the veteran.
A photo of Shami’s incredible over that he bowled to Ben Stokes against England during the 2023 ODI World Cup was shared on social media by LSG on Friday. LSG’s IPL home field, the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, served as the venue for this match.
“Just thinking about this Ekana moment for no reason,” the brand, which is situated in Lucknow, captioned the photo.

In the 2025 Indian Premier League, LSG’s all-Indian pace attack disappointed them. The opposition batsmen were not put under any pressure by players like Prince Yadav, Avesh Khan, Shardul Thakur, or Akash Deep. Before the upcoming season, it was obvious that LSG would want to strengthen their bowling unit.
The addition of a player like Shami would significantly improve their bowling lineup.
Because he has played on the big stage for many years, he will also be able to mentor the team’s younger fast bowlers.
IPL retentions are due on November 15. Prior to next month’s auction, all of the teams are trying to decide which players they want to release and which ones they want to trade.
