For the 2024–25 domestic cricket season, Mohammed Shami is included in Bengals' probable list

Ahead of the domestic cricket season, West Bengal has put fiery India pacer Mohammed Shami on their 31 probable list. Shami is recovering after a successful ankle surgery. It is noteworthy that Shami was excluded from the ODI World Cup in November of last year due to his prolonged absence from cricket action.

The bowler has started bowling in the nets with full force after undergoing rehabilitation at the esteemed National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. With the home international series against Bangladesh starting on September 19, the 33-year-old has set his sights on a return.

According to, Shami was anticipated to represent Bengal on the road against UP (Uttar Pradesh), which is scheduled to begin on October 11. In addition, starting on October 18, the gun swift also hoped to play Bihar at home.

In an attempt to get him back to playing for the national team against Bangladesh, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) had previously begun to bowl. Shami’s ability to play every domestic game and every forthcoming international match at home—including New Zealand’s trip of India—is yet unknown, though. The Indian board’s emphasis on the forthcoming Australia tour, which begins on November 5, has been the main cause of the uncertainty.

Mohammed Kaif, Shami’s younger brother, is mentioned in the Bengal probable list

Mohammed Kaif, the younger brother of Mohammed Shami, has also been included to the list of likely players, which also includes Wriddhiman Saha. In a noteworthy move, the Indian batsman-wicketkeeper recently moved his base from Tripura back to Bengal by burying the hatch with the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB).

Team Bengal unexpectedly finished in third place in Group B, behind Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh, last year, failing to advance past the Ranji Trophy group stage. Additionally, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the highly regarded Vijay Hazare competition. Bengal’s troubles were made worse as they were eliminated from the Syed Mushtaq T20 competition before the quarterfinals.
