Mohammed Shami can replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Bangladesh match while Bumrah should take a brief rest, according to Sunil Gavaskar.

Sunil Gavaskar, a legend of Indian cricket, suggests that India rest Jasprit Bumrah for their upcoming match against Bangladesh on October 19 at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. This idea is tactical due to Bumrah’s excellent form, as evidenced by his superb figures of two wickets for just 19 runs in seven overs against Pakistan. The urgency with which India must prepare to play New Zealand in Dharamsala highlights the significance of controlling the workload of their star bowler.

In particular, Gavaskar views the various weather forecasts for the two different venues as a key factor. He suggests that India may want to change their playing combinations for the upcoming match because of the climatic contrast. Gavaskar proposed Mohammed Shami as a potential Bumrah replacement for the match against Bangladesh. He claims that such a tactical move will guarantee a gradual change in the dynamics of India’s team.

“Jasprit Bumrah must be present in full. Additionally, there are only a few days between the match against Bangladesh in Pune and the match against New Zealand in Dharamsala.

There will also be a change in the weather. Ideally, I believe Jasprit Bumrah should be given some time off before Shami maybe enters the game, Gavaskar remarked, as reported by India Today.

With Shami returning, you truly have nothing to lose: Sunil Gavaskar

Shardul Thakur plays a certain role for the team, and Sunil Gavaskar highlighted how crucial it is to keep him there. In his analysis, the 74-year-old supported a tactical break for Jasprit, highlighting the advantages in terms of preserving the right arm pacer’s vigor throughout the competition. This would avoid the need to add another bowler to the team’s lineup, maintaining the crucial batting balance.

“With Shami rejoining the team, you actually gain nothing. In the three-match series leading up to the World Cup versus the Australians, Siraj got a little break. The thought tank might consider Shami into the game against Bangladesh, Gavaskar said.
