Cricket West Indies declared on social media that Johann Layne will take Shamar Joseph‘s place as fast bowler for the forthcoming two-match Test series against India. Due to an unidentified injury, Shamar Joseph will not be participating in the series.
The 22-year-old Barbados native Layne is an all-around player who has participated in 19 first-class matches thus far. Although he has amassed 495 runs in 32 innings and two fifties, his returns are exponential when he is using the ball. In his first-class career, he has already claimed four five-wicket hauls and taken 66 wickets at an average of 22.28.
Shamar Joseph, however, will undergo a reassessment prior to the Bangladesh white-ball series, which will start on October 18 and comprise three ODIs and three T20Is.
On October 2, India and the West Indies will play their first Test match in Ahmedabad.
