Shama Mohamed goes from critic to fan after praising Rohit Sharma incredible 76 in the CT 2025 Final.

In a since-deleted tweet, Shama Mohamed had previously body-shamed Rohit Sharma by referring to him as “overweight” and one of the “least impressive” leaders India had ever had. However, in a stunning turn of events, Shama took to social media to praise Sharma and congratulate the team on winning the Champions Trophy 2025 after the Mumbai-based batter skilfully guided his team to capture the second ICC trophy in as many years.

Following his scorching 76-run innings that helped the Men in Blue win another ICC (International Cricket Council) title on Sunday (March 9), Congress national spokeswoman Shama Mohamed lauded India skipper Rohit Sharma. Notably, the ‘Hitman’ took the lead at bat as the Asian team won the Champions Trophy in Dubai for the first time in twelve years.

Notably, the New Zealand squad, who had thrashed South Africa in the semifinal to go to the top match for their likely second ICC knockout title, faced the Indian team. Nevertheless, the Blue Brigade won their third Champions Trophy title by remaining undefeated in the eight-team competition.

Notably, political parties, politicians, and Indian cricket fans all strongly condemned her comments. They distanced themselves from Shama’s comments, claiming that they did not represent the party’s position, because it appeared that the situation was harming Congress. The spokesman later clarified that it was her own viewpoint and not the party’s.

“Congratulations to #TeamIndia for winning the #ChampionsTrophy2025 with such an incredible performance! Bravo to Captain @ImRo45, who set the tone for victory with a spectacular 76 and led from the front. Important knocks from @ShreyasIyer15 and @klrahul led India to victory! “A victory to never forget!” On her official ‘X’ handle, Shama wrote.

Congratulations to #TeamIndia for their stupendous performance in winning the #ChampionsTrophy2025! 🇮🇳🏆

Hats off to Captain @ImRo45 who led from the front with a brilliant 76, setting the tone for victory. @ShreyasIyer15 and @klrahul played crucial knocks, steering India to…

India won the Champions Trophy for the third time.

Speaking of the Champions Trophy 2025 final, Mitchell Santner, the captain of New Zealand, chose to bat first after winning the toss. Despite getting off to a fast start in the powerplay, the Indian spinners helped the team rally by controlling the Kiwi hitters for the majority of their innings, ultimately setting a goal of 252 runs.

To set the tone for the rest of the batting order, Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Shubman Gill gave India a strong start in the reply.

The match ended up being a nail-biter, and the captain took the lead with an incredible 76-run knock off 83 balls. With six balls remaining, the Men in Blue ultimately prevailed by four wickets. The Rohit Sharma-led team won the T20 World Cup in the West Indies last year, therefore this was their second ICC trophy in the white-ball category.
