Despite being included in a First Information Report (FIR) connected to a murder investigation, great all-around player Shakib Al Hasan will still play for the Bangladesh national team, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Shakib got embroiled in a FIR during a period of civil instability in Bangladesh, which gave rise to the issue. Legal pressure following this development compelled BCB to act. Citing laws from the International Cricket Council (ICC), Supreme Court attorney Shajib Mahmood Alam issued a legal notification to the board requesting Shakib’s immediate withdrawal from all cricket-related activities. In spite of these legal obstacles, the BCB has adopted a strong position.
“Shakib will carry on with his playing. “We responded to a legal notice that asked for his return by saying that he would keep playing,” BCB president Faruque Ahmed was cited in a prominent Bengali daily, Prothom Alo.

According to the BCB, the FIR is still in its early stages and does not establish guilt. Additionally, the board has stated that, should the need arise, it will offer Shakib Al Hasan legal support.
“At this time, the FIR has been filed; it is in its preliminary phase. Numerous stages will follow, and we will not allow him to play until he is found guilty. Following the Pakistan series, the Bangladesh team will travel to India, and we would like him to play in that series as well. He is a player under contract with us, and we will provide him with legal support if needed,” he continued.
He has been given permission by the board to represent Surrey in a County match against Somerset in England from September 9 to September 12. Following that, he will play for the national team in two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals against India.

“He [Shakib] has not played red-ball cricket for a while and that is why we have given him a NOC to play for Surrey as it will help him to adjust with red-ball cricket more than anything else,” an official from the BCB stated.
