Bangladesh’s start against India has not been the best, and they behind the visiting team. Bangladesh lost the first Test match against the Rohit Sharma-led team by an overwhelming 280 runs in Chennai, and they now look forward to the match in Kanpur.
They have suffered a setback, though, as veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is being closely watched, is not guaranteed to play in the Kanpur Test. Shakib suffered a finger injury during the Chennai Test match after Jasprit Bumrah struck him in the hand. Shakib has been the target of numerous complaints in recent weeks, but selector Hannan Sarkar claims that Shakib’s batting against India was flawless.
“Our best player is Shakib Al Hasan.
We can put together a team more easily when he is in the starting eleven. His batting seemed appealing to me. He seemed quite confident in his batting approach as compared to other players and Shakib’s previous batting style. He managed the strain and played with ease. Yes, he didn’t score much, but he always contributes to the team’s equilibrium, the Daily Star cited Hannan as saying.
In addition to bowling a few overs, Shakib scored 32 and 25 runs in each of the two innings he played against India. He was unable to significantly alter the game, though. Hannan further mentioned that Shakib’s hand was pain-free prior to the India match in Chennai and that the problems only surfaced during the match.
“There is time before the next game, and we must always consider our options before selecting Shakib. We’ll check to see what state he’s in. We are aware that he is talking about the pain in his hand. It didn’t exist prior to the contest, and numerous people have offered various explanations for why.
