As Shakib Al Hasan reached an important milestone, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha praised the senior star all-rounder. Interestingly, Shakib Al Hasan became the third player in the history of the ODI format to amass 7,000 runs and take 300 wickets.
The 35-year-old accomplished the incredible feat while watching Bangladesh play Ireland in the opening ODI. Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach of Bangladesh, said that if the cricketer from Bangladesh had played in conditions similar to those in England, Australia, or India, he may have amassed a significant amount of runs.
“The Daily Star reported Hathuru singha as saying, “Shakib Al Hasan, I know playing in Bangladesh most of the time and playing against other teams in the past who had better bowling attacks (than Bangladesh), which is not the case now, at least not for the last five to six years, but maybe when you were starting (in your career), it’s not easy.
“Moreover, it’s difficult to score many runs in this situation. It would have been 10,000 or 12,000 runs for your talent if you had played someplace in England, Australia, or India. Well done, this is a huge accomplishment, he continued.
Bangladesh maintains its winning streak
The Bangla Tigers are enjoying a fantastic run in the international arena with back-to-back victories, it is important to note. In the recently finished T20I series against England, the team won all three games 3-0, and they currently lead the ODI series against the Irish team 1-0.
In the second ODI encounter, Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant century put the Bangla Tigers on the verge of their second straight victory over Ireland. The flashy batsman scored a century in just 60 balls, giving Bangladesh its best ODI total ever with 349 runs in 50 overs.
A washout, however, prevented Bangladesh from establishing an unbeatable lead in the three-match series. In any event, on March 23, when they play at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the team will be fired up to wrap out the series.
