Shakib Al Hasan announces retirement from Tests, with Mirpur game against South Africa being his last

For the second Test against India at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, Shakib Al Hasan was considered uncertain. The veteran’s involvement in the fight was eventually confirmed, despite initial reports that he had suffered a finger injury. Shakib has declared his retirement from the game’s longest format ahead of the Kanpur match.

The all-rounder disclosed that the Mirpur Test will be his final dance in the format during the next home Test match series against South Africa. In 70 games, the 37-year-old has played as a white representative for Bangladesh. With a peak score of 217, he has scored 4600 runs at an average of 38.33. With the ball, he has been extremely effective, taking 242 wickets at an average of 31.85 and twice picking ten wickets or more.

Bangladesh’s tour will conclude with a final Twenty20 international match against India on October 12th, following the Kanpur Test. After that, they’ll go on a two-Test, three-ODI, and three T20I tour to the West Indies.
