Following their defeat in the two-match Test series, the West Indies prepared to face Rohit Sharma’s India in a three-match One-Day International series, with the first ODI set for Thursday, July 27. India easily defeated the hosts as the game got began, giving the Windies the worst possible start to the white-ball series.
India imposed their dominance on the ODI series as well, chasing down the mark in just 23 overs and winning the match by five wickets. After winning the first game, the team will be eager to deliver similar performances in the series’ upcoming games.
Shai Hope, the West indies ODI captain, took center stage to address the issue following their batting collapse and poor performance in the first ODI. Shai Hope, stood up to offer his opinion, saying that while he is not absolving himself of blame for the defeat, he did express his worries about the difficult pitch that was in use and draw attention to the team’s incapacity to play on it.
Let’s just say that our performance wasn’t up to par. We must develop methods of scoring on a difficult pitch. I don’t mean to make excuses, but everybody who watches cricket can see what’s going on.
But we need to find other methods to score,” Shai Hope stated during the post-game awards ceremony.
West Indies’ defeat was caused by a batting collapse
In relation to the match, the Windies elected to bat first after losing the coin toss. But the Indian bowlers held the upper hand over their entire batting order. The West Indies were bowled out for just 114 runs in the opening innings, with captain Hope scoring the most runs with his knock of 43.
To make things simpler for the visitors before the run chase, it was the brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, who grabbed three and four wickets, respectively. India did lose five wickets in the second innings while attempting to reach the mark. Ishan Kishan, who scored 52 runs off of just 46 balls, helped India win the ODI series.
