With the Punjab Kings (PBKS) choosing to release Shahrukh Khan ahead of the 2024 auction, the power-packed batter from Tamil Nadu is looking for a new Indian Premier League (IPL) side.
Shahrukh Khan did not live up to the hype of the Indian Premier League, despite winning a staggering INR 9 crore at the 2022 mega-auction. He showed little potential in the 2021 season, and his performance in the next two seasons was quite disappointing. Since 2022, he has only scored 273 runs in 21 innings.
Shahrukh Khan spoke on the difficulties of batting in the lower middle order, particularly when facing experienced death bowlers. He stated that although it is not always possible to stay until the final ball in the death overs, he tries to do so.
When you fail to receive the two sixes at the end, people tend to criticize you. That can’t, however, occur every day. For bowlers as well…One cannot always be successful if they are a Natarajan or Bumrah. “I aim to remain until the final ball during the final overs,” he stated in a conversation with the Hindustan Times.
“It feels incredible to score 15–20 runs in an over. Many believe he has failed if he doesn’t get them in a single game. They do not, however, recognize the significance of scoring 10 runs on 4–5 balls. It comes down to that when you watch T20 matches,” he continued.
Shahrukh Khan established himself as a top finisher on the local circuit thanks to his outstanding performances in the 2021–22 Syed Mushtaq Trophy, which are still vivid in many people’s minds. However, he has been unable to duplicate the same in the IPL.

Shahrukh is reassured not to try anything remarkable because he still has faith in his abilities and is confident in his ability to hit hard.
“I’m naturally gifted with power. I don’t need to do anything particularly special because of my powerful build. My technique allows me to negotiate balls of decent length. Even mishaps can go a long way with my power. Therefore, Shahrukh stated, “I don’t look to complicate it.”
A lot of bowlers attempt to hit me with wide yorkers. I get a lot of doubles, but not many sixes or boundaries. Those are dot balls when I miss. However, this strategy puts third man and fine leg in. I can outmaneuver them if I can create a ramp shot over a fine leg or the keeper. While considering his batting approach, Shahrukh remarked, “I have been working on it in practice matches.”
