Following Pakistan’s humiliating elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024 in the group stages, former cricket player Shahid Afridi voiced his dissatisfaction with Babar Azam’s captaincy. Azam left his position as team captain after the ODI World Cup in 2023, but surprisingly, PCB administrators fired replacement skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi following the team’s defeat in the series against replacement Zealand.
After taking back control, Babar was unable to complete the task at hand even though he had all the players he desired. Shahid pointed out that none of the previous captains had had as many chances to establish themselves, keeping everything in perspective. In his remarks, he stressed the value of allowing the captain and coach enough time, but he also mentioned how Babar led the side to defeat in several ICC competitions and the Asia Cup.
“After deciding on the coach or the captain, they ought to give them some time.” We have also captained a number of times, and a captain has never had so many opportunities as Babar. Traditionally, the captain was the first to take the autumn after the World Cup. Two or three World Cups, two or three Asia Cups—he has ample opportunities,” Afridi said in a widely shared video.

I don’t understand this surgery: Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi was taken aback when PCB removed Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee. With only two of the selection committee members being fired, the 47-year-old continued, saying that it was unnecessary.
“I learned that the only people fired from the screening committee were Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq. This operation is beyond me. Should the selection committee consist of six to seven members, why have just these two been eliminated? said Afridi.
As for Riaz, he talked briefly about being fired and promised to release a statement outlining the events that led up to it.
