'For the first time, he didn't say anything'- Shaheen Afridi opens up on altercation with Matthew Breetzke

In the first innings of the match, South Africa’s young batsman Matthew Breetzke and Pakistan’s top left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi got into a fight, which was one of the game’s most dramatic moments.

This afternoon, the finals between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin, marking the end of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series. The decisive match between the Men in Green and the Proteas, which determined which team would advance to the next round of the finals, was a high-scoring match that featured some amazing cricket and drama.

In addition to being fined 25% of his match fee, Afridi violated the ICC code of conduct for players and player support staff by getting into an unwarranted physical altercation. At the conclusion of the match, the 24-year-old pacer shook hands with the South African batter, revealing more about the brawl and the intense debate they had.

Shaheen Afridi stated in an interview with Geo News, “Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends.”

For the first time, Matthew remained silent. To get a wicket, I kept making fun of him. What occurred on the field remained there.

The death bowling troubles of Pakistan

Undoubtedly, Pakistan secured a spot in the Tri-Series finals by defeating South Africa despite chasing a massive 353 total. However, their death bowling has been a major problem in recent games, forcing their hitters to chase high scores in the finish. In the previous game, their bowlers gave up 110 runs in the final 10 overs, and bowlers like Kyle Verreynne and Heinrich Klaasen destroyed them. The team’s leak of runs in the final overs was also acknowledged by Afridi.

Shaheen commented on Pakistan’s performance with the ball in the dying overs, saying, “We acknowledge that we haven’t been playing well in the final overs.”
