Sports psychologists' Sessions are certainly helping us. Harmanpreet Kaur

India’s women are getting ready for the pivotal T20 World Cup 2024, which kicks off on October 3. This forthcoming edition would be the ninth of its kind, and the Indian squad has yet to win the championship. India came quite close to taking home the trophy in 2020, but the formidable Australians prevailed. This time, the Indian squad is focused on winning the trophy, therefore they have brought in a sports psychologist to help them prepare for the international competition.

It’s no secret that intense competitions require complete concentration; the mental aspect of winning comes first, followed by the physical. Many industry veterans agree that the strain that cricket players typically face is primarily mental.

The team has met with sports psychologist Mughda Bawre, according to India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and the outcomes will be evident.

In terms of preparation, we have crossed all the boxes as opposed to the minor details that were absent from the previous editions. We spoke with each other in a few sessions about our feelings and our desired course of action. We felt great after a number of sessions with Mugdha’s assistance, and we felt even better after putting it into practice on the ground. According to Firstpost, Harmanpreet Kaur stated, “She’s really working hard on us, and so far it’s really helping us.”

India has made it to the semi-finals four times, in 2009, 2010, 2018, and 2023, in addition to the finals in 2020. They are grouped with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in Group A. On October 4, they will play their opening matchup against New Zealand.
