Mohammed Shami, an Indian seamer, has spoken out about his 2025 Asia Cup rejection. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was Mohammed Shami most recent competitive appearance.
Mohammed Shami declared that he did not wish to blame anyone for his expulsion from the team.
“I don’t complain about or hold somebody accountable for not being chosen. Please choose me if I’m a good fit for the team; if not, I don’t mind. It is the duty of selectors to act in Team India’s best interests. I am confident in my ability and will give it my all if and when given the chance. According to News24 Sports, Mohammed Shami said, “I’m working hard.”
The 34-year-old clarified that he was ready and fit for the Asia Cup, but he added that he has no control over selection.
Mohammed Shami also gave an important update on his performance on the Bronco Test.
“Why can’t I play Twenty20 cricket if I can play the Duleep Trophy? I have no hope at this time (regarding my international return). I’ll try my hardest to perform and give it my all if they play me. I have no control over whether they play me or not. I’m available in every format if I’m participating in five-day cricket or the Duleep Trophy. I passed the Bronco fitness test after being called to Bengaluru, and I’m now prepared to return,” Shami continued.
Shami’s most recent appearance for India was during their Champions Trophy 2025 championship run. He had a successful IPL after that. He was left off of the Indian Test team’s five-match England tour roster. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly expressed concerns about his physical condition and capacity to manage the workload.
