The first match in the ODI portion of the India vs. England series will take place at Nagpur. Fans’ demand to watch the game live has surged ahead of the tantalising competition, raising security fears at the venue. As a result, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has promised to strengthen security at the location as a precaution. The organisation reviewed the city’s top cricket stadium’s operations for fogging, cleanliness, and beautifying during a meeting on Tuesday, February 4.
Officials from the district government, the Odisha Olympic Association, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the police, and the health agencies attended the meeting, and the CMC made the final arrangements.
In addition, Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena provided a security briefing regarding the game’s access and exit plans.
“Entry and departure of individuals will be controlled via four specific gates, with staff assigned to oversee security and hygiene,” the DCP stated, as reported by News18.
On the day of the game, the district health department will also send out ambulances and medical teams for emergency response, and food safety officers will keep an eye on stall conditions. He further mentioned that special bus services will run from Trishulia, the railway station, and Cuttack’s Netaji Bus Terminus to facilitate spectator movement.
In the previous game played here, the Indian side defeated the West Indies by chasing down an enormous target of 316, mostly due to the outstanding efforts of their top-order batsmen. During the game, Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match, and the star batsman will be looking to duplicate that feat in the next match.
