Scott Boland talks the possibility of calling Virat Kohli his "bunny"

According to Scott Boland, he is eager to bowl against Indian batting legend Virat Kohli during the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

In the last two Test series played in Australia, India prevailed. India won their first-ever Test match on Australian soil under Kohli’s leadership in 2018–19. The Delhi batsman participated in the inaugural Test match in 2020–21, when India lost by 10 wickets after being famously shot out for 36 in the second innings. After being sidelined by multiple injuries, the tourists pulled off the unthinkable by returning to defeat the Australians 2-1. Kohli had missed the tour to attend the birth of his first child.

In the World Test Championship final between Australia and India at The Oval, Kohli faced Scott Boland.

Boland removed the former for 14 and 49 in each of his two innings. In the end, Pat Cummins and company won by a score of 209 runs. According to Boland, Australia would be the favourites to defeat India in this round of the Border-Gavakar Trophy.

In a video that journalist Daniel Cherny posted on X, Boland stated, “I think we’ve got real class bowling attack, some of the best players in the world as they do but I think home conditions we can get a jump in” (previously Twitter).

Still, the right-arm seamer declined to call Kohli his “bunny” and said he would be happy to take a swing at him when he returns to Australia later this year. “I wouldn’t make that claim. Nice wicket, hopefully I can get another chance to try my hand at him,” Boland said.

Since winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 at home in 2017, India has been able to maintain possession of it. Australia’s last home victory over India occurred in 2014–15. With the selectors beginning to look beyond seasoned players like Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s Test team is undergoing a transitional period.
