Shaw is so far behind that it is not even amusing. – Scott Styris provides a scathing assessment of the current IPL season for DC batters

Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris provided a rather frank assessment of Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Prithvi Shaw’s dismal performance in the ongoing IPL 2023.

Notably, the batter has appeared in six matches and scored 47 runs at an average of 7.83, with a maximum score of 15 runs.

In his last match against KKR, he was only able to score 13 runs before being dismissed. However, the 23-year-old has since been removed from the lineup, and Phil Salt has taken his position at the top of the batting order.

Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Rajasthan Royals is another youngster who has made significant advances in the league. The flamboyant southpaw is among the league’s top run scorers, having amassed 442 runs in 10 games with three half-centuries and one ton at an outstanding average of 44.20.

During a discussion in JioCinema, Brett Lee and former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris discussed the influence of Jaiswal and Shaw on the current competition. Scott Styris, who was unimpressed with the DC batter’s success, advised Shaw to work harder and get fit.

“I recognize that you referred to Prithvi Shaw here. All the competition among teenage athletes… Shaw is so far behind schedule that it’s not even amusing. He must work, return to domestic and IPL cricket, and hone his skills. “He must get in shape and become indispensable,” Styris said on JioCinema.

On the other hand, Jaiswal, who is enjoying a stellar season for the Royals, was lavished with praise by the Australian legend. Lee added that the southpaw would continue to play for the national team given his current form.

“I find (Yashasvi Jaiswal’s) demeanor to be extremely striking, and his strike rate is exceptional. He has the proper attitude. He will compete for India for a very long time,” Lee stated on JioCinema.
